The diamagnetic effects on the dynamics and evolution of a magnetized region are analyzed. It is found that the counterfield produced by a cloud of relativistic electrons leads to an equilibrium between the magnetic field in the cloud and the energy density of radiating electrons. The system reaches the equilibrium curve with the energy of the electrons less than or equal to three times the energy of the initial magnetic field provided the cooling time is always longer than the dynamical time-scale. The system evolves by lowering the electron energy and raising the magnetic field due to synchrotron losses. When the initial field is completely restored by the external batteries, the total radiated energy exceeds the particle initial energy. The total energy lost in radiation by the particles is higher than expected from the standard synchrotron theory.
