The small nebula near GL 989 does not show the optical polarization features of a simple reflection nebula illuminated by a nearby source, and it is suggested that the polarization arises from dichroic extinction by aligned grains. It is proposed that the nebula is the first visible sign of the formation of a cometary/bipolar nebula created by collimated outflows from the IR source.
