Several models have been proposed for the description of anomalous X-ray pulsars (AXPs) and soft gamma-ray repeaters (SGRs). The most widely discussed is the magnetar model, which involves a neutron stars with a surface magnetic field of the order of 1014÷1015 G [1]. Some other models put forward to explain the observed peculiarities of AXPs and SGRs. There is currently no model that can satisfactorily describe all the observational properties of these objects. We develope the drift model. Here, we discuss the applicability of the magnetar model and consider the feasibility of the drift model.
