Particles which interact only gravitationally have statistical density fluctuations which are enhanced over the Poisson value. The authors show that even small correlations can substantially reduce the initial amplitude required for density fluctuations to produce galaxies in hierarchical clustering theories. The growth of the mass of correlated bound systems at epoch R will be faster than the R2 growth of uncorrelated Poisson clustering.
