After a quarter century of breakthrough developments in radioastronomy, space exploration and biology, the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI) obtained the support of the National Academies of the USA and of the USSR, of the International Astronomical Union and, more tangibly, the financial support of NASA. The author reports on the most recent developments made by NASA Extraterrestrial Research Division, concentrating on the two main steps: spectral analysis and signal recognition. He also presents a new powerful SETI strategy based on pulsars. Then he sketches the interest of international collaboration and presents a project of SETI observations with the Nançay large radiotelescope in collaboration with NASA.
