The recent and comprehensive observational study concerning 47 Tucanae (Hesser et al, 1987) allows a new and better constrained investigation of the dynamical characteristics of this galactic globular cluster. Fitting the surface brightness profile and the mean radial velocities to a King-Michie dynamical model gives results which are different from those of Meylan (1988) in three respects. The quality of the fit to the velocities is greatly improved and both surface brightness and velocity dispersion profiles are simultaneously well represented. Any ad hoc large quantity of white dwarfs is no longer necessary. The mean total mass, 1.1 x 10 to the 6th solar masses, gives a mean mass-to-light ratio of about 2.1. The same ratio equals 1.0 in the central parts.
