A new age of the Pleiades has been obtained, comparing the cluster HR diagram with the isochrones derived from the overshooting evolutionary models with chemical composition Y = 0.28, Z = 0.02. This comparison gives an age for the cluster of 1.5 x 10 to the 8th yr, instead of 6-7 x 10 to the 7th derived in these last years from the classical evolutionary models. This new value reduces drastically the difference between the age derived with the premain-sequence evolutionary models (turn-on age) and that derived with the new main-sequence models (turn-off age): a strong argument in favor of the sequental star formation hypothesis thus fails.
