A number of substantial modifications of the study by Zinoviev (1990) on the absence of a global dust storm on Mars in 1988 are presented. Analysis of numerous photographs and color sketches of the planet's surface show that at least during the June-July 1988 period the Martian atmosphere was in a sufficiently disturbed state. It is concluded that the hypothesis of dust storms of Mars in 1988 must be viewed with caution.
