It is argued that the rapid evolution of highly inclined polar rings in early-type galaxies is due to both artificial instability caused by the lack of radiative cooling and to the lack of numerical resolution in observations. It is shown that in oblate and near-oblate potentials, highly inclined rings are long-lived and will develop a stable warp, even without self-gravity.
