We investigate the general relativistic effects of spots co-moving with the accretion disk around a black hole. The observed flux increases when the spot is behind the black hole due to gravitational lensing (via an increase in the observed solid angle) and, to a lesser extent, due to the gravitational corrections to the Doppler shift. The Doppler effect and the gravitational lensing make the X-ray signal non-sinusoidal, which flattens the variability power spectrum of many spots and weakens the predicted 'cut-off' feature at the high-frequency end. Our results may explain why so far we have not observed the sharp roll-off phenomenon at high frequency in X-ray variability power spectrum of AGN.
