The global properties of the dense interstellar medium in the lenticular NGC 3593, which were mapped in the J = 1-0 and 2-1 rotational transitions of CO, are discussed. A nuclear ring with r of about 300 pc and an inclination corrected rotation velocity of about 125 km/s was detected. The ring may be larger in the J = 1-0 than in the 2-1 line, indicating partially optically thin CO emission at the inner boundary of the ring and/or a radial gradient in the density or kinetic temperature of the gas. The radius of the ring coincides with the turnover radius of the rotation curve, consistent with molecular ring formation by viscous transport of angular momentum. A comparison between the presumably face-on lenticular NGC 404 and the nearly edge-on lenticular NGC 3593 shows similarities in the overall molecular morphology.
