A Chandra 30ks HETGS observation of the X-ray transient microquasar GRS 1915+105 reveals absorption edges and faint line emission. We find evidence for prominent edges at 1.74Å (7.13 keV), 5.02Å (2.46 keV), 9.52Å (1.30 keV), and 6.74Å (1.83 keV) corresponding to neutral iron, sulphur, magnesium, and silicon. The resulting absoption columns exceed the value expected from Galactic absorption. This could be cold absorbing material intrinsic to GRS 1915+105. The Si-edge shows structure which may be explained by a more complex morphology of the absorbing material. Neutral and ionized features are superposed on the continuum.
