I will discuss generic predictions of LCDM hydrodynamical simulations on galaxy formation and evolution, and compare them with observations. The simulations I use include a star formation recipe which allows us to investigate galaxy formation processes without ad-hoc assumptions of `bias' between galaxy and dark matter. The topics I will discuss include: the cosmic star formation history (Madau plot); the luminosity density of galaxies; the evolution of the galaxy mass function, luminosity function, and color; the cosmic Mach number statistic as a function of overdensity and galaxy age; and the number counts of galaxies in HDF.
