Measurements of the correlation of the absorption in nearby lines of sight can provide an important test of the Lyα forest model, and can be used to measure the cosmological constant by the Alcock & Paczyński test. I describe predictions for the correlation in three-dimensions, obtained from numerical simulations of the Lyα forest. I also discuss how these predictions can be used to measure cosmological parameters from groups of spectra, and the accuracy we can expect from these measurements. Finally, I give results for the correlation measured from some already observed sets of spectra.
