The electron-positron annihilation losses of the extended lobe in 3C 273 are estimated by assuming that the feature is a relativistic electron-positron plasma with a low-energy cutoff. The annihilation losses are found to be approximately equal to 1.8 x 10 exp 36 erg/s in the lobe. The X-ray background of the lobe at values between 200 KeV and a few MeV is expected to be affected by the electron-positron annihilation lines from galaxies with redshifts of not more than 4.
