This paper discusses several asymmetries (lobe distance, flux density, jet sidedness, spectral index, depolarization, and emission line) observed in two samples of 13 FRII quasars and 13 FRII radio galaxies (redshift between 0.3 and 2). The implications of these asymmetries for the unified model are discussed. Our results showed that while some asymmetries (i.e., jet sidedness) favor the viewing angle effect as a possible cause of the observed difference between the quasars and the radio galaxies, other asymmetries (i.e., depolarization) require other effects in addition to the orientation effect.
