Observations from the Short Wavelength Spectrometer (SWS) launched aboard the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) have produced a substantial database of spectra from circumstellar dust shells over the full wavelength range from 2.5 to 40 microns. The wide variety of sources observed and the broad wavelength range covered provides a unique opportunity to search for new stellar and circumstellar spectral features and correlate their relative strengths and shapes to previously identified features. We show how this comparison improves our ability to separate the contribution from the stellar photosphere and the circumstellar shell and how it contributes to the identification of the material responsible for enigmatic features such as those at 7 and 13 microns.
