We present measurements of the mean surface mass density around galaxies and clusters from weak lensing measurements in the SDSS. On large scales, the galaxy-galaxy lensing signal is proportional to the projected galaxy-mass correlation function wgm. We make comparisons between wgm and the galaxy-galaxy and galaxy-luminosity correlation functions. Implications for bias and Ω m are discussed. The lensing mass on smaller scales (R < 250 h-1 kpc) is studied as a function of central galaxy luminosity in each of the 5 SDSS bandpasses. A strong, nearly linear correlation is seen between mass and light for galaxies with L ≳ L*, when the light is measured in the redder bandpasses. Lensing mass measurements for galaxy clusters are also presented. Cluster masses are studied as a function of cluster luminosity and galaxy number density. Funding for the SDSS project has been provided by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the SDSS member institutions, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Japanese Monbukagakusho, and the Max Planck Society.
