The density and magnetic field structure of a coronal flux rope is modeled. Assuming that the coronal mass ejection (CME) structure corresponds to that of the pre-eruption flux rope, we find that a flux-rope CME consists of a somewhat-hollow magnetic flux rope with foot points anchored in the photosphere. The resulting model CME is tested against the data by computing synthetic coronagraph images. In the case that these model CMEs are consistent with both the analytical calculation and with prior simulations of ``flux rope CME'' events we find that many characteristics found in observed CME images are reproduced, including halo events and so-called ``disconnection events''. Alternative concepts of pre and post-eruption CME structure will be discussed. Supported by ONR.
