Scientific paper

The possibility of the existence of dust in intergalactic space is
reviewed. Evidence from galaxy counts and colors, the observed
characteristics of quasars, the Hubble diagram, and the cosmic
background radiation is addressed. Future observations that may settle
the question are discussed.
