We investigate the possible presence of low amplitude, high-frequency oscillations in short time exposure SUMER timeseries. Using a variety of profile fitting methods and a combination of real and synthetic data we examine the detection thresholds and limits. As a result we can assess the likelyhood that certain long-duration, high cadence, SUMER datasets contain meaningful information about the propagation of high frequency waves in the Solar Chromosphere and Transition Region.
