Black Holes: Electrodynamics
Scientific paper
After a short summary of the properties of isolated stationary black holes by the example of electrodynamics the physics in the neighbourhood of black holes is treated. In difference to the traditional four-dimensional space-time description the fundamental laws are written as equations of an "absolute space", over which the dynamical variables are developed as function of an "absolute time" similarly as in non-relativistic physics. Simultaneously the boundary conditions at the horizon are formulated as properties of a fictive conducting membrane. In this "membrane model", which was farly developed by different authors, the physics beyond black holes can intuitively much easier be understood. This is especially valid for the Blandford-Znajek process of the magnetic energy extraction from a black hole, which is possibly essential for an understanding of the quasars and other active galaxies.
