Maps are presented of the dust continuum emission from the molecular cloud G34.3 + 0.15, made using the Maxwell telescope at 450 and 800 microns with angular resolution 7 arcsec and 15 arcsec, respectively. The maps show a central unresolved (less than 7 arcsec) core superimposed on a wider (about 30 arcsec) component. Assuming that the outer region of the cloud is in virial equilibrium, it is possible to estimate its mass using linewidths from ammonia observations, and hence scale the dust emissivity. If the emissivity is independent of radius the continuum observations then imply that the core mass is insufficient for virial equilibrium. Alternatively, the core may be bound but the dust emissivity within it must decrease by a factor of ten.
