Voyager 2 data have fully confirmed the hypothesis that Uranus rings are resonant in nature and that their locations are determined by the 1:2, 2:3, and 3:4 resonances from unknown satellites. Voyager 2 discovered a number of small satellites beyond the external boundary of the rings. The orbital radii of the four new satellites (the resonance effect of each of which determines the location of two rings) agree with predicted values.
