By using the recently reported Stokes coefficients C22 and S22 in the Venusian gravitational field expansion, the periodic variations of the Venusian spin rate, Δω1, generated by the torque of solar gravitation, and Δω2, generated by the variation of the principal moment of inertia C, c33, are estimated. Whether the gravitational torque due to the coupling between the permanently deformed equatorial zone of Venus and the Earth may control the state of Venus' rotation is also discussed.
