The flux of meteoroid size particles ejected from comet P/Halley in the mass range from l0-9 to 10-1 kg as observed by radar and optical techniques is compared with the flux of dust particles in the mass range from 10-20 to 10-8 kg as measured by space probes. The theory of the orbital motion of the comet and of the shell model of the meteor stream give within the observational errors of particle fluxes an initial mass of the comet of about 3.2 × 1015 kg and an effective diameter of 21 km. An estimated age of about 2300 revolutions is derived.
