On November 12, 1985 the plasma tail of comet P/Halley made its first appearance during the latest apparition. Subsequently the comet displayed a great variety of tail activities. These included structures of different shapes in different bands even on the same night. The activities in the U and B bands usually preceded those in the V and R bands and were more prominent. According to the morphologies and lengths of the structures which appeared in the B and U bands they were plasma tails rather than dust jets. The deviation of the tail from the antisolar direction seemed to show a general tendency of decrease as the comet got closer and closer to the sun.
