An analysis is made of the behavior of oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen trace constituents in the mesosphere under the effect of a powerful source of ionization, the ionization rate being q = one-thousand to one-billion per cu cm s. Numerical calculations show that the distribution of the majority of the neutral and excited trace constituents is significantly disrupted under such conditions. The character of variations of the constituents depends on the intensity of the ionization source, altitude, the time of day, and the season.
