A single IUE spectrum obtained early this year of one of the knots near the central star of the planetary nebula Abell 30 revealed the presence of heating not attributable to photoionization. The likely cause of this heating is the impact of the star's 4000 km s^-1 stellar wind. Thus observations of this planetary bear directly on the important astrophysical problem of the cooling of hot shocked gas (T >10^8 K) in contact with a cooler (T ~ 10^4 K) component. We wish to make further observations of this nebula and of another which might show similar effects.
