Alpha Orionis, a bright M supergiant star is unique in Its accessibility to high resolution measurements with IUE and tosimultaneous ground based photometry, polarimetry and spectroscopy. It is a complex system that allows intensive detailed study and one that may hold the key to the mode and character of mass loss among luminous stars. We propose an intensive multi-frequency study of this active star during the 1984-85 year.
