The unique optical and radio jet associated with the low-mass protostar L1551 IRS5 will be observed at both long and short ultraviolet wavelengths. It is expected that emission lines will be seen, typical of Herbig--Haro Objects, as well as an ultraviolet continuum. By observing the UV spectra from the jet, the physical conditions will be inferred enabling the first deterndnation to be made of the mass loss rate from the exciting star, So other T Tauri star, or low-mass protostar, has an associated jet that has been observed and spatially resolved by radio, infrared and optical techniques, L1551 IRS59-therefore, provides a powerful clue toward our understanding the nature of the anisotropic mass loss mechanism in these young stars.
