Scientific paper

Spitzer 70 and 160-micron observations of the COSMOS Spitzer survey (S-COSMOS) are presented. The enhanced data reduction techniques and the methods for producing the final public images and source catalogs are reported. Initial results on the infrared properties of sources are discussed. The measured photometric confusion noise for the MIPS 160-mircon band is 9mJy (q=5). This work is based on observations made with the Spitzer Space Telescope, which is operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology under a contract with NASA. Support for this work was provided by NASA through an award issued by JPL/Caltech.
