The central star of NGC 3242 was observed with IUE in high resolution. The N V resonance doublet exhibits a weak P Cygni profile with photospheric components. Theoretical profiles are obtained from comoving-frame calculations, and the nitrogen ionization balance is computed. A mass loss rate of -10.1 to -8.1 is derived, while the final velocity is 2200 km/sec. Wind parameters compared with the parameters of the central star show that the usual relations established for winds from early-type stars are fullfilled.
