Strohmeier (1972) has identified AI Phoenicis (HD 6980) as a type EA eclipsing binary. The present investigation was initiated in connection with a program to extend the solar UV limb-darkening study of Kjeldseth Moe and Milone (1978) to another solar type star. Milone et al. (1981) describe a UV center-to-limb variation experiment. The present investigation is concerned with ground-based observations. AI Phe was observed on 16 nights in August and September 1981. Observations were also conducted on 11 nights during the time from July to November 1981. Attention is given to the average extinction and transformation coefficients for the obtained data, standardized magnitudes and color indices, five spectra of AI Phe, the differential magnitudes and color indices of AI Phoenicis, and an analysis of the light curves in five bandpasses.
