The details of a BV photographic photometry of a rich sample of stars in the field of NGC 288, extending down to the main sequence, are presented. The observational data are reported and the reduction procedures used to obtain the color-magnitude diagram (CMD) are presented. Three important parameters derived from the CMD, the helium abundance, metal content, and heavy element spread, are discussed. Gaps on the main branches and peculiar aspects of the CMD are addressed.
