Solar Active Regions: Line Profiles

Scientific paper

The spectra of active regions NN 2469 and 2490 were taken with the ATB telescope of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute in accordance with the Solar Maximum Year Program on May 28, 1980 and June 11, 1980. The spectra were processed and spectral line profiles of metals and hydrogen of different strengths were plotted for various parts of the active regions. The analysis enabled to make a conclusion that a difference in strong line profiles of metals at two points with the greater and smaller central emission of the H, K Ca+ lines is noticeable for the larger flare. Dependences of profile differences of metal lines at the points of different flare activity on the equivalent width of the lines on the mean optical depth of their formation and on the potential of the excitation of the lower level of the line were plotted. All the dependences show that the profile differences at these two points decrease with the depth of the solar atmosphere.
