Solar Activity Cycles: Solar Faculae, Polar Regions: Solar Faculae

Scientific paper

A new 133-year series of yearly mean polar faculae numbers was studied and a 22-year cycle of the polar magnetic field strength was detected in the north and south hemispheres of the Sun. It was found that the spectral composition of the curves of temporal variations of the N-S asymmetry is identical at low and high latitudes. This asymmetry can be explained as due to the phase shifts and amplitudes of basic periodic components of 32.5 years and 50 years.
