A progenitor model of Type IA SNae is proposed. The model initially includes a C + O white dwarf and a low-mass red giant star with a He core. The red giant fills its inner critical Roche lobe and mass transfer begins. If the mass transfer rate exceeds a critical value, an extended envelope forms around the white dwarf and a common envelope state is realized. When the C + O core grows to the Chandrasekhar limit in the common envelope, a Type Ia SN occurs. The Type Ia birth rate expected from the model is consistent with that observed for the Galaxy.
