A method which is not biased by the selection effect due to the large scale density variation in the sample to test the richness-dependence of cluster-cluster correlations (R-D for short) for Abell and Zwicky clusters. For D = 5 + 6 Abell samples an R-D which is in agreement with that given by Bahcall and Soneira (1983) is found. This method also detects the effect of the Corona Borealis supercluster in the correlation amplitude estimation for D lower that 4 Abell samples. No significant R-D and compactness-dependence is found for Zwicky clusters in the three distance classes, if no constraint is put on either richness or compactness. The R-D becomes more significant if compactness is also used in dividing up samples. Due to the difference in cluster identification in Abell and Zwicky catalogs, this result suggests that there is no significant correlation between population and compactness for Zwicky clusters, and the R-D is a combined effect of the mass and density of the density field peaks for cluster formation. This constrains some of the schemes of biased galaxy formation.
