Nine compact extragalactic sources were observed interferometrically at lambda = 18 cm with baselines having fringe spacings from 0.0045 to 0.035 milliarcseconds. Four of the sources exhibit widely separated bright components reminiscent of extended double sources. The variable source NRAO 150 has complex structure extending over 0.020 milliarcseconds. The BL Lac object 0735 + 178 has compound structure at the limiting resolution of the observations in contradiction of concentric multicomponent models for this source and its flat radio spectrum. Three sources show simple, single component structure similar to several other sources at this wavelength. Morphology of the compact radio emission at lambda = 18 cm appears correlated to radio spectrum in a sense opposite to usual interpretations. Sources with simple spectra, reconcilable with a single radiating component instead showed multiple, separated components. Other sources with complex spectra showed comparatively simple radio structure. The radio emission of NRAO 150 however appears to come from at least three regions which also give rise to a complex system.
