We present several N-body simulations designed to investigate the evolution of the Velocity Dispersion Distribution Function (VDDF) in a cluster of galaxies. Galaxies are found using a density maximizing algorithm from which velocity dispersions are determined and investigated for temporal evolution. The VDDF of early-type galaxies is a unique way to study the evolution of galaxies. Its strength lies in its minimal dependence on the luminosity and luminosity evolution of a galaxy, and direct comparison to numerical simulations. It has been shown observationally that the VDDF is characterized by an analytic function known as the modified Schechter function. We discuss the potential of the VDDF to characterize the mass evolution of early-type galaxies, and investigate the sensitivity of the VDDF to the evolution of early-type galaxies in the cluster environment.
