The binary system Theta-2 OriA, physical member of the Ori Ic subgroup of the I Orionis association, falls within the error box of the X-ray source 4U 0531-05, as observed by Uhuru, Ariel V and ANS satellites. An examination of the present observational material indicates that there are no strong objections, at this stage, to Theta-2 OriA as the possible optical counterpart of 4U 0531-05.
