We propose observations of the hot-gas cores of clusters of galaxies through measurements of the Sunyaev - Zeldovich effect in the millimetric region. We show that it is possible to determine empirically the evolution of the hot gas radius through cluster counts, and to use thereby the Sunyaev - Zeldovich clusters for a measurement of the cosmological deceleration parameter made free from evolutionary effects.
