The infrared regime is a key range for studies of starburst galaxies. It
contains a rich variety of tracers of the gas, dust, and star-formation
activity and enables us to probe deep into dust-enshrouded star-forming
regions. Selected results based on diagnostics at near and mid-infrared
wavelengths are highlighted.
