Characteristic features of the Forbush decrease observed during September 1977 (a time of high activity of the solar McMath Region 14943) are studied in a wide rigidity range using data from the Japanese cosmic ray observation network. Hourly values of cosmic ray intensity recorded during September 16-30 are displayed for representative stations and components. Cosmic ray intensity depressions are shown as a function of telescope median rigidities. Consideration is also given to diurnal variations of cosmic ray intensity during Forbush decreases.
