It is suggested that high energy beams of neutrons can be used to transport energy to relatively large distances from an active central powerhouse of a galactic nucleus. It is assumed that there is an aligned rotator and electromagnetic acceleration mechanisms are important. In this model, decay back into charged particles allows radiation to recommence further away from such a generator than in other models. If high energy neutron beams can be formed from collimated charge beams rather close to the source, they will remain well collimated and will not be affected by the divergence of magnetic field lines. Even a very small counterflow of photons towards the surface of the rotator may convert most of a proton beam into a neutron beam by photomeson production.
