New spectroscopic observations of Cyg X-2 confirm the period, phasing,
amplitude, and shape of the velocity variations previously discovered.
The degenerate dwarf model put forward by Branduardi et al. (1979) to
explain the X-ray behavior cannot be reconciled with these observations.
