Lunar soils retrieved from Apollo and Luna missions are studied in terms of a normative mineral composition scheme, whereby soil relationships are divided into two classes: the ilmenite-basalt-anorthosite series, and the series olivine-basalt-norite. Attention is given to the effect of soil glass on absorption band intensity (in the 0.95 micrometer region) and pyroxene content in samples collected from 50 lunar regions.
