CTIO 4 m telescope spectrophotometric observations, namely, redshifts, magnitudes, and line strengths for 64 confirmed quasars in the Hoag-Smith (1977) sample, are presented and discussed. Quasars with extreme emission-line properties and very strong absorption lines are identified and listed. The slitless spectroscopy technique is evaluated by comparing these observations with those from the Curtis Schmidt survey. The surface and space density distributions that emerge from both these surveys are considered, and it is found that they do not tie together well.
