The effective temperatures of ten giants in the Draco dwarf galaxy are found from their V-R and R-I colors. The color system was calibrated against globular cluster giants in M3, M13, and M92 using the temperatures of Cohen, Frogel, and Persson (1978). The balance of evidence from photometric data and some preliminary scanner spectra suggests that the metal-to-hydrogen ratio in Draco is greater than that in M92. Individual spectral features (e.g., the G band in 45-24) do, however, behave anomalously. This makes it clear that an improved understanding of these giant stars requires the study of a larger sample of their spectra at medium (approximately 10-A) resolution.
